Overview

Preamble

Intellectual Property (IP) is the creation of inventions, literature and artistic works by the mind of human being. The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) include: Patent, Copyright, Trademark, Industrial Design, Integrated Circuit Layout, Geographical Indicators, and Trade Secrets. "Protection and enforcement of IP contributes to the promotion of technological innovation and to the transfer and dissemination of technology for social and economic welfare"

The Intellectual Property (IP) Cell at Symbiosis Centre for Research and Innovation (SCRI) is established in the academic year 2013-2014. The IP Cell is dedicated towards creating the importance and awareness about the IPR among all the faculty members and students studying in UG, PG and Ph.D. The cell assists and supports the creative young minds of the students to materialize and safeguard their ideas, concepts into reality.

SCRI is committed to establish a transparent administrative system for the ownership control and assignment of intellectual properties and sharing of the revenues generated by the intellectual properties developed and owned by the University.

Objectives of IP Cell

  • To bring awareness among the Faculty members and Students about IPR.
  • Generation and implementation of IPR.
  • Legal and Legislative framework for IPR
  • Administration and Management of IPR.

Activities of IP Cell:

The various activities undertaken by the IP Cell at SCRI include:

  • Disseminating awareness about IPR, Innovation, emerging fields in technology domain within the campus, affiliated colleges of SIU and promoting a culture of Innovation and IP.
  • Providing support in terms of filling and managing entire prosecution of patents, copyrights, trademarks, design patents for the potential IP aspirants.
  • To ensure that agreements such as Memoranda of Understanding (MoU), Research Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA), Material Transfer Agreements (MTA), Material Testing Agreements (MEA), Technology Transfer Agreements, and Technology Licensing Agreements etc. entered by SIU with universities, research institutions, industry, and funding agencies, including government agencies and foundations are consistent with the provisions of the IP Policy of SIU (Symbiosis International Deemed University).
  • Assess ideas for IP commercialization potential.
  • Help identify emerging trends and opportunities in multiple technology sectors and industry verticals.
  • Manage IP commercialisation and technology transfer, etc activities for the potential aspirants.
