Ph.D. Coursework

Pre- Ph D Coursework is an important matter of concern for the new students who wish to enroll for the Ph D Programme of SIU.

• M. Phil. degree holders having Research Methodology with B+ grades are exempted from coursework.
• The students who have completed Ph. D from other Universities shall be exempted from coursework.
• The decision on exemption from coursework shall be conveyed to individual Deans as per the rulebook after ascertaining the eligibility.
• Those who have completed coursework in other Universities and taken fresh admissions in SIU Ph. D. Programme are not eligible for exemption from coursework.
• The admitted students have to complete the coursework in the assigned duration (generally between Sept to May every year). The exact scheduling will be communicated by the respective Deans.
• The students working with supervisors from Nasik, Nagpur, Bangalore, Hyderabad, NOIDA campuses shall be required to report to the location decided by the respective Deans for attending the coursework. The default location for coursework is Pune.
• The students attending coursework will have to make their own arrangement of stay and logistics.
• The scheduling, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of coursework is done by the concerned Deans. Hence, all queries are directed to the respective Deans.
• The coursework of 16 credits is compulsory as per the UGC norms. Ensure the requisite attendance (min 75 %) and completion of assignments as per the given time schedule communicated by the concerned Deans. Minimum passing marks are 55 % in each subject. Refer to the Ph D Rulebook for details.
• The e mail IDs of respective Deans are available in the list of supervisors’ uploaded on the webpage of the University.
