Symbiosis Centre for Stem Cell Research (SCSCR) : SCSCR is located at the hill base campus within Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences (SSBS). SCSCR was established to initiate both fundamental and translational research in various aspects of stem cell biology, which will eventually be complementary to the activities of Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre (SUHRC). The centre has initiated several research projects on hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs), human pluripotent stem cells (hESCs), endometrial organoids, and bone- and cartilage-specific stem cells. SCSCR has state-of-art equipment to facilitate research of internationally accepted standards. We also have expert faculty members who are recognized doctoral guides of SIU.
Symbiosis Centre for Medical Image Analysis: SCMIA is located on 6 th floor of SIT. Currently, the center focuses on neuroimaging (MRI), neuromusculoskeletal disorders (joints, bones and soft tissues), and breast imaging (ultrasound). Image analysis methodologies include volumetric analysis, diffusion MRI processing and analysis, structural and functional connectomics, statistical learning in imaging, radiomics, population based analysis and deep neural networks for image classification. The centre plans to diversify research to image analysis of various organs and include multiple modalities in imaging.
Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar, Provost, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences He graduated from B. J. Medical College, Pune and then pursued Masters in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 1989. He completed Ph.D. from the University of Pune. He was on deputation at Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman from 1992–1996. He has been a former member of Board of Governors, Medical Council of India (MCI), Central Supervisory Board-PCPNDT. Governing Council of Consultancy Development Centre (CDC), DSIR, Ministry of Science & Technology, Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC), Maharashtra Nursing Council (MNC). He is also associated with various other professional organizations like FICCI, CII, IMA, FOGSI, ISCCM, SEMI,IHCQF, MCCIA, etc. He also been nominated by the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra on the ‘Senate of the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences’ (MUHS).As a Member of the Steering group of International Health Promoting Universities and Colleges, he aims to influence policies on Health Promoting University & contribute to the Fit India Movement Campaign Committee. Guided several doctoral students, have large number of publications to his credit.
